It is a daily occurrence that some devotee reports yet another of Bhagaan's leela ! The fact that he has shed his body does not deter him from playing his eternal leela, sometimes letting us be conscious of it, but most of the time he accomplishes his work silently without our being aware of it! Recently a delightful incident was narrated by Sri Kumaravel of Sivakasi. Sri Veeramani Raju,a popular singer of devotional songs (especially of Swami Iyappa), had gone to Sivakasi for a music performance that had been scheduled in a nearby village. Since he was in the neighbourhood Shri Veeramani Raju decided to have darshan of Bhagavan and also met Shri Kumaravel. He narrated his experiences When he had come to sing at the Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram a few years ago, a yellow butterfly had settled down near the microphone and continued to sit there until the end of the performance. Those at the ashram had told him that this unusual behaviour on the part of the butterfly would show Bhagavan's presence in view of the fact that Bhagavan had on an earlier occasion confirmed his appearance in the form of a butterfly. Shri Veeramani Raju had on a subsequent occasion thought that if it was true that Bhagavan had come in the form of a butterfly, He should repeat His appearance for the next performance also. At the Aranachala Krishna Temple in Kerala, sure enough, Bhagavan obliged him! A butterfly, similar in colour to the one that had appeared in Tiruvannamalai, came to the microphone exactly at the time that Shri Veeramani Raju started singing a song about Arunachaleshvara. This convinced Veeramani Raju that the omnipresent, omniscient being that is Bhagavan is not only present everywhere but also guarding him! He narrated another incident which would bear out Bhagavan's assurance that not only the devotee but all connected with the devotee would be protected by "Father." The tabla player in his group of musicians had heard of Yogi Ramsuratkumar but had not had his Darshan or even seen his photo. One night, at Chennai, when he was sleeping in his house, he heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door, he saw an old man with a white beard, wearing a woollen shawl, with a green turban on his head. The tabla player asked him, "Who are you? What do you want?" The old man said, "It doesn't matter who I am. Take me upstairs to the bedroom." He was taken upstairs to the bedroon. The old man pointed out a spot on the roof and said that it was in danger of collapsing and must be attended to at once and wxent away. With a shock, the young man woke up. When he discussed his dream with friends they concluded that it must have been Yogi Ramsuratkumar who gave this remarkable Darshan. The tabla player called some engineers who examined the roof. They expressed their shock at the state of the roof, said that it was in danger of collapsing at any moment at the spot indicated by our friend and advised immediate repair. This was carried out. When this incident was being narrated to Smt Minakshi Sankarakingam, she said that her husband's life had been saved by Bhagavan. Shri Sankaralingam used to make collection of dues from places like Arani and Tiruttani and then he would come and have Darshan of Bhagavan before returning to his home town, Arupukottai. Once, it was evening time when he took leave of Bhagavan. Bhagavan gave him some fruits as Prasad and blessed him for a safe journey. Shri Shankaralingam took the bus leaving Tiruvannamalai at about 9 PM. He walked to the front of the bus, seeking the seat behind the driver since it would be the most comfortable. He found a man stretched across the seat. The man refused to budge even after repeated request and told Shri Shankaralingam to go to one of the rear seats. Shankaralingam took it as the will of Bhagavan and went to the rear. After an uneventful journey the bus neared Madurai. Suddenly, there was a head-on collision with a lorry. The front of the bus was completely damaged and those in the front row were quite crushed by the impact. Shankaralingam was thrown of his seat by the impact along with many others in the bus. He groped for Bhagavan's Prasad in the dark and miraculously his hand grasped the bag and soon after, he was able to get even the box containing his collections, even though it was pitch dark and there was continuous screaming with people clambering over each other to get out of the bus. Shankaralingam fully believes that it was Bhagavan's blessing of a safe journey that prevented him from occupying his usual front-seat, thus saving his life. Smt Minakshi Shankaralingam also recollected an event when Bhagavan treated her husband with motherly affection. There was very heavy rain in the summer of 1995 and some of the trees at Sudama, including the gooseberry tree, were unable to stand the lashing of the rain. They were tilting and were in danger of falling down. Vijay Anand, Parthiban and Shankaralingam volunteered to tie up the trees to a safe anchor. There was no letup in the rain and all were streaming wet by the time they finished the work! Bhagavan asked Ma Devaki whether there would be any spare clothes available and she was able to bring three sets of clothes including a white jibba, dhoti and an upper cloth to all these wet friends. She said that all were deeply moved by this extraordinary kindness of Bhagavan and felt highly blessed. Overwhelmed by the memories thrown up by the incident Smt Minakshi fondly remembered the times she used to buy flowers and braid them intricately and offer them to Bhagavan. She said with moist eyes that after accepting them Bhagavan would pass on these intricately braided jasmines to some Western devotees, who would not even have sufficient hair to wear the flowers! Smt Minakshi said that earlier, in the 1980s, the textile business had been carried on in the name of Deivanai Cloth Stores jointly with Shankarakingam's elder and younger brothers. Due to difference of opinion, the brothers decide to part. They were able to divide the physical assets but the question remained as to would use the trade name "Deivanai Cloth Stores." None were willing to give up their claims. Shri Shankaralingam suggested that they go to Tiruvannamalai and request Bhagavan to resolve the issue. The others agreed. Shri Shankaralingam went to Tiruvannamalai but his brothers
did not accompany him saying that they would come later. They
turned up a few days later. Bhagavan heard their requests but
made no answer. When they pressed him for an answer, He would
say, "Iruppom (we shall wait here)." A few more days
passed. Finally He decided that the trade name should be used
by Shri Shankaralingam and his younger brother. The business
flourished and they were able to conduct it very well until differences
surfaced once again. But that is a different story. |
